Stuttgart-based plant breeding company Selecta one has reminded the industry that its carnations are protected by trademarks, following issues in Europe.
In particular, the company focused on its single best-selling product Pink Kisses®, where it holds several international protections on the name, logo and images (including trademark protection register number 011 261 724 of 11.03.2013). For its leading Oscar® series (trademark protection register number 009 239 328 of 24.12.2010), there is also extensive trademark protection as a registered international trademark in addition to variety protection.
In a statement, the company, which is a leading global breeder, grower and marketer of innovative ornamental and utility plants, said, ‘These and many other protected names of the Selecta carnation assortment may therefore be used exclusively for Selecta genetics. This also applies to the use of corresponding concept pots and labels.’
Selecta one Marketing Director Klaus Gaumann stressed that the company will take legal action against infringements and misuse of names. “We will not accept any violation of our trademark rights,” he said.
