Prepared fruit producer The Fruitery, which was launched by grower Chambers last February will be expanded as a retail brand in its own right as the company looks to increase sales in new outlets.
Chambers is working with Westminster Kingsway College on a ‘seeding programme’ for the products which the company says benefit from an extra two-days shelf lie thanks to its short supply chain. It also says the products have reduced food miles and full traceability and provenance, which have proved popular with foodservice and food retailer sectors currently supplied with a white label product by The Fruitery.
“The Chambers business model is based on four key pillars, growing, packing, importing and prepared, all of this is underpinned by an ongoing commitment to innovation and tracking current and future market opportunities,” said director James Miller. “The Fruitery has been well received within the industry and our advantageous reduced supply chain timeline, £2 million investment in the high care facility, BRC accreditation and ability to provide a seamless year-round supply of berries direct from the grower resonates favourably with our customers.
“We believe that The Fruitery can operate successfully as a proprietary brand, alongside the existing white label business, leveraging the successful supply chain model pioneered by Chambers.”
