Growers can air their views on what changes they’d like to see in the rules on planning permission or permitted development rights for nursery reservoirs, in a consultation open until September 25.
The consultation is part of a wider exercise by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities which is proposing a range of changes to permitted development rights for homeowners, developers and businesses.
Defra is collaborating with the consultation and seeking views on specific aspects of planning legislation that affect farmers and growers. In addition to the rules on reservoirs the consultation is looking at conversion of farm buildings to help farm diversification and to provide accommodation for rural workers, as well as greater flexibility on the size of new agricultural buildings.
