Jersey sweet potatoes from Waitrose

Following trials last year under glass by the Jersey Royal Potato Company (part of the Produce Investments group which includes Greenvale), sales started with Waitrose in late January for both loose and packed produce.

This potato variety, which came originally from Central and south America and were grown in Perus as 8,000 years ago, is not an easy crop to grow in northern Europe as it really needs a steady 24 degrees temperature with no frost, lots of daylight and warm evenings.
