The BPOA management committee decided to cut the membership subscription for 2021 by 50% in recognition of the pressure that all members are feeling following the dreadful spring season and the ongoing difficulties in trading and balancing cash flow. The reduction in income overall is being met from Association reserve funds.
It is hoped that the membership will be encouraged by the move from the Association which is meant as a gesture of solidarity with them.
James Alcaraz, Chairman of the BPOA said that “the Association members have shown great resolve and resourcefulness in the face of severe trials this year and we wanted to recognise that and show our support for the efforts that are being made by individual companies.”
This eventful season has already seen a number of initiatives on behalf of growers with surveys on crop value and peat usage in horticulture as well as government support for the sector, plant health controls and the continuing role of the AHDB being considered. The BPOA is looking forward to a more stable season in the coming year.’
