Birmingham Botanical Gardens is recruiting for a Senior Glasshouse Horticulturist to join its team, ahead of the largest development project in its 192-year history.
The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to play a significant role in the Gardens’ future as it embarks on a transformational £14m National Lottery Heritage Fund capital project, made possible by National Lottery players. Working as part of the senior horticultural team, they will be responsible for maintaining the living collections and propagation as well as leading the production for seasonal planting schemes in the garden. They will also be key to piloting the production of UK native plants for species translocation programmes.
“This is a unique chance to become part of the most ambitious and exciting development project in the Gardens’ history,” said Director of Horticulture, Emily Hazell.
“The ‘Green Heritage Project’ will restore the four historic Victorian glasshouses, improve the site infrastructure, and promote the value of nature and green spaces.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a dedicated and enthusiastic team of horticulturists committed to increasing public understanding of the importance of plant biodiversity to life on earth and ensuring the Gardens’ legacy for generations to come,” she added.
