Labeau announces the commencement of construction for a state-of-the-art laboratory for the propagation of Phalaenopsis in Çanakkale, Turkey. The opening ceremony took place on April 16, with approximately 150 invitees to celebrate the beginning of this new project. The sixth in Labeau’s series, it is expected to propagate between 25 and 30 million Phalaenopsis plants, making it the largest laboratory in the Labeau group.
With this new addition Turkey has become the sixth location for Phalaenopsis tissue culture for Labeau joining facilities in Germany, Belgium, America, and Slovakia. Turkey not only provides the company with the necessary additional production capacity but also serves as a strategic trading location.
During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by local ambassadors: the mayor Muharrem Erkek, the chairman of the OIZ Fahrettin Ersoy, and the local Governor Ilhami Aktas underscoring the significant contribution to the economic development of the region. The laboratory will employ more than 200 full-time workers and is scheduled to open late February 2025.
