During these challenging times, ICL is delighted to support Happy Plants with its ‘#OneGrandGesture’ scheme, with £1000 securing £3000 worth of bedding plants and hanging baskets to be donated to Queenscourt Hospice in Southport.
“Queenscourt Hospice provides vital care and support to patients and their families in West Lancashire, Southport and Formby,” says ICL’s marketing communications manager, Adam Ferjani. “While in many respects the world appears to have stopped, healthcare professionals and volunteers at charities such as Queenscourt Hospice are soldiering on, providing the very highest level of care to those with serious illnesses. We applaud all keyworkers and hope this small gesture will bring some joy to the magnificent team at Queenscourt Hospice, and some additional colour to the hospice grounds for patients and their families to enjoy during these particularly difficult times.”
Happy Plants’ initiative challenges companies/individuals to pay £1000 for £3000 worth of plants delivered to themselves or donated to a good cause in the Liverpool area, such as a hospital, hospice or school. For those that choose to donate the plants to a good cause, Happy Plants also put £100 in the #OneGrandGesture pot. At the end of Lockdown this money will go to a deserving charity, as the final grand gesture.
“We are so grateful to ICL for showing their support to both the horticulture industry and our vital key workers in this way,” says Natalie Porter, of Porters Fuchsias / Happy Plants.
“This is the second #onegrandgesture we have delivered so far, and it was once again the highlight of our week to see how much joy the plants brought. We hope to be able to use this initiative to continue sending as many plants as possible to key workers, not compost heaps, during these difficult times.”
Adam Ferjani says: ‘Happy Plants is to be highly commended for devising this scheme which is looking to make the very best of an extremely difficult situation many growers find themselves in.”
