The Yes Peas! campaign, which works to increase demand and awareness of frozen peas, has announced that its ‘Young Pea Chef of the Year’ competition is returning for a second year.
The competition will be opening for entries this month, challenging budding young chefs to develop a healthy and delicious recipe using peas as the main ingredient. The winner will be the creator of the most interesting and delicious recipe which includes the Great British Pea as star of the show. It can be a starter, main, dessert or quick and easy snack.
Yes Peas! is welcoming entries from primary school children up to year six and have partnered with Waitrose for a second year running to reward the winner with £500 in cooking equipment for their school.
The Young Pea Chef of the Year competition was launched in 2016 to challenge budding young chefs to develop a healthy and delicious recipe using peas as the main ingredient. Sponsored by Waitrose, it attracted hundreds of entries and produced a recipe booklet featuring the ten finalists.
Campaign ambassador Rachel Green said, “We are hoping to encourage even more young cooks to get involved. This year we want to see secondary school pupils get their creative chefs hats on too.”
