The UK’s largest sustainable composting company, Veolia, is introducing a new natural rock dust product that will boost soil health by using the UK’s mineral rich, ancient volcanic rockdust. To be launched at the BBC Gardeners World Spring Fair at Beaulieu, Hampshire on 2-4 May, the new product, called Pro-Grow Rockdust, has been selected to meet the diverse needs of every grower from the window box and patio tub gardeners to allotment holders and community gardeners, schools, commercial growers, local authorities and landscape gardeners.
ProGrow Rockdust, a mineral-rich soil supplement containing essential macro and micro nutrients, has proven highly effective for gardeners and allotment holders in improving soil health and organic growing conditions. The product enhances soil biology by supporting beneficial organisms from bacteria to earthworms, which in turn help release nutrients from both the rockdust and existing soil compounds. Organically approved by the Soil Association and Organic Farmers and Growers, the product can also be used as a top dressing at any time of year to accelerate composting, thereby benefitting flowers, fruits, vegetables and grass, as well as acting as a tonic for wormeries.
Donald Macphail, Chief Operating Officer – Treatment, at Veolia commented:
“Veolia’s launch of Pro-Grow Rockdust provides an ideal opportunity for gardeners and horticulturists to improve their soil health through the use of this natural material that boosts biological processes. Not only will it encourage healthier plant growth, but it will enable all gardeners to contribute to countering climate change as the dust captures carbon dioxide.”
