Grodan and Royal Brinkman hosted their 2025 Growers’ Day recently, bringing together 35 protected salad growers from across the United Kingdom. The event provided a platform for industry leaders and growers to explore the latest innovations, techniques, and solutions in horticulture.
Thijs Janssen, Sales Manager for Grodan, opened the event by addressing the key challenges the horticultural sector faces in today’s increasingly complex, dynamic, volatile, and uncertain world. He emphasised the importance of continued learning, development, and the improvement of growing techniques, as well as the need for innovation to ensure the sector’s growth and sustainability.
At the Growers’ Day, several challenges faced by growers were discussed. One of the key topics was irrigation strategy, with a focus on reducing energy costs by adapting irrigation practices. Attention was also given to substrate management, biosecurity, and integrated pest management as well covering current and future digital solutions that can support growers, and the latest products and innovations that could enhance the sector.
The event was BASIS accredited, underlining its focus on knowledge sharing and providing attendees with global, industry-leading insights. In addition to informative sessions, the day included a valuable networking opportunity, allowing growers to connect with peers and experts in the field.
