Directors and staff at North Yorkshire horticulture research facility Stockbridge Technology Centre are celebrating after one of its Assistant Project Managers passed his viva-voce at Lancaster University, which will lead to the award of a PhD.
Rhydian Benyon-Davies, who works in the high profile LED4CROPS facility that is trialling the effect of LED lights on a range of horticultural crops, completed his PhD recently after studying at the University of Lancaster and Moulton College.
Benyon-Davies, who spent four years researching how stock-plant soil moisture affects adventitious rooting from cuttings, said: “I am very proud to have completed my Doctorate and I look forward to applying my knowledge and expertise across the growing systems portfolio at STC.”
Rhydian joined the team at Stockbridge Technology Centre in May 2014, the Centre’s Director of Science, Dr Martin McPherson said: “Rhydian’s success if well deserved. He has worked hard and is a great ambassador for the ground breaking work that Stockbridge Technology Centre is carrying out.”
