Naujasis Kalcitas in Lithuania has recently become RHP Horticulture certified for its raw material lime for the production of growing media, as based on research and inspections executed by the certification body, the company complies with the requirements as determined in the Product Certification Scheme of the RHP quality mark.
The company received its RHP certificate during the Baltic Peat Producers Forum in Lithuania. With the certification of Naujasis Kalcitas now joins 74 certified companies worldwide. A
Naujasis Kalcitas was founded in 1997, it operates the Menčiai limestone quarry and produces mineral limestone supplying its products mainly to customers in the agricultural sector.
Director Justinas Žąsytis comments: “Our company’s production process is constantly being adjusted so that we can offer our customers the best quality products. The entire team works to bring only the highest quality products to the market. The quality of our manufactured products is constantly monitored in accredited laboratories and in the company’s production control laboratory.”
For lime products with the RHP quality mark, specific requirements are set for the fineness of the lime, so that it can quickly bring the pH of growing media to the desired level. Because lime is a mineral, the product is checked very regularly by an RHP approved laboratory on the chemical composition and in particular on contamination with trace elements. RHP certified products are free of contamination with heavy metals, radioactivity, weed seeds and pathogens, according to the RHP standards.
