At Fruit Logistica, Berlin, PERFECT-Van Wamel introduced PERFECT-Sort, the latest Deep Learning technology for its Uni-Grader sorting machines. This high-end technology will accelerate the digitization of fruit grading. PERFECT-Sort is completely new and developed with AI technology. PERFECT-Van Wamel has collaborated with former employees of Radboud University Nijmegen, with input from users worldwide.
It is a challenging playing field in which growers and traders find themselves. There is increasing pressure on costs and qualified personnel are scarce. Graders also need to deal with rapidly changing market demand for products in specific grades, qualities, and packaging. It is necessary to respond quickly and efficiently to these changes. With PERFECT-Sort, growers can optimally respond to these changing market conditions and sell their product at the highest value. This also means that fewer hours are needed on the machine and waste is further reduced.
PERFECT Uni-Grader cup grading machines have been developed with 30 years’ experience in grading technology and have a very good reputation. Even difficult fruits such as Conference pears are perfectly graded using accurate, fruit-friendly techniques.
During the development of PERFECT-Sort, extra attention was paid to ease-of-use. The system is very easy to operate and works intuitively. This allows the user to easily select classes and quickly compile a product specification. Information is displayed logically and clearly. The system also generates valuable data that can be used in a different way, such as in an ERP system.
PERFECT Deep-Learning technology ensures an optimal sorting result under all circumstances. It enables the user to respond exactly to the specifications of customers and what the market demands at that moment. With PERFECT-Sort, customers continue to grow by maximizing the yield of their product. Existing PERFECT Uni-Grader machines can also eventually be equipped with the new PERFECT-Sort Artificial Intelligence system.
