UK based, blueberry plant specialist, Plants365, has recently signed commercialisation licences with Michigan State University in the USA to develop 5 blueberry cultivars. These include Calypso and Osorno as well as more established varieties, Liberty, Draper and Aurora.
This is an important step for the company as it develops its blueberry plant portfolio into a range of territories. Company director, Stefan Belakov, stated, “We are delighted to add these varieties to our nursery business. They will help us to remain at the forefront of blueberry cultivars, supplying our customers with plants that yield berries of excellent quality. Varieties from Michigan State University are well-renowned across the world for their fruit quality and yield aspects, so we are very proud to be associated with them in Europe.”
Plant production of these varieties will start up this year and any growers interested are invited to make contact with the company (www.plants365.co.uk)
