Juice manufacturer Cawston Press has launched three new vegetable juice lines following successful sales of its Brilliant Beetroot product. The company says its aim was to create ‘a range of refreshing drinks that contain a decent amount of vegetables.’
The new chilled products include Sweet Greens, which includes Iceberg lettuce, cucumber and mint alongside some apple, pear and water; Sunshine Blend which is a blend of apple, carrot, orange and celery with a splash of water; and Radiant Roots based on apple juice with added carrot, beetroot and ginger. All three products are made from pressed fruit and vegetables and are free from added sugar, sweeteners, preservatives or colourings. Stockists include Tesco and independent shops.
According to Nielsen Scantrack, last year volume sales in pure and mixed vegetable juice category rose 6.6 per cent, the equivalent of 16.5 million litres, while the sector worth an estimated £27.2 million. John Mulvey, Cawston’s marketing manager, said: “There’s a clear trend towards healthier, natural drinks that these are well-positioned to take advantage of. This has left consumers open to new drink concepts, including the re-appraisal of ingredients such as vegetables, which were previously seen as niche.”
