The potato packing plant at Carnoustie, near Dundee, operated by Farmcare Trading, has been bought by Morrisons to add to their 16 food manufacturing or processing sites around the UK. The future of the plant and its 90 employees had been in doubt last year following the end of a major contract.
Farmcare operate on 11 farms covering 40,000 acres and Richard Quinn, chief executive, told The Dundee Courier: “The deal with Morrisons is a strong strategic fit and we look forward to an ongoing relationship to concentrate on what we do best – growing great crops and working closely with Morrisons as a supplier of choice”.
