With forty years practical growing and technical sales experience, Martin Donnelly has joined the ICL team as sales development manager.
In this new role he will be advising ornamental growers in the NE Midlands on growing media and nutrition, while working alongside Andrew Wilson to provide UK-wide IPM technical advice encompassing ICL’s growing range of plant protection products. With extensive experience of specialty crops, Martin will also be playing a key role in ICL’s specialty agriculture division.
BASIS qualified, Martin joins ICL from Certis Europe where he advised growers and distributors on crop protection programmes in ornamental, forestry and specialty agriculture sectors.
He began his career in 1977 as a horticultural apprentice at Wolverhampton City Council, working his way up to Nursery Manager within eight year. Martin then spent 16 years with another growing media manufacturer advising growers in the Midlands and Wales on substrates and crop nutrition programmes.
“Martin’s qualifications, skills set and practical growing experience are a excellent fit with our Levington Advances Solution package – encompassing growing media, precision nutrition and plant protection products,” says ICL sales manager Adrian Thirtle-Watts. “A registered BASIS examiner, he is studying for the BASIS Diploma in Agronomy. As well as advising ornamental growers, Martin will be helping to drive forward our specialty agriculture division covering forestry, soft fruit, protected salads and field-vegetables.”
