The 42nd edition of Macfrut opened today (6th May) at the Rimini Expo Centre, inaugurated by Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, Francesco Lollobrigida. Running until 8 May, the international trade fair confirms Rimini as a key hub for the global fruit and vegetable supply chain.
This year’s edition features 1,400 exhibitors – over 40% from abroad – and welcomes 1,500 top buyers. A packed programme includes themed exhibitions, B2B networking, and 100 events exploring sector developments. New for 2025 is The Healthy Food Show, a dedicated arena featuring celebrity ambassadors, chefs and scientists discussing the role of nutrition in well-being.
Egypt is this year’s Partner Country, showcasing 40 companies, while Lazio takes centre stage as the Partner Region, presenting its PDO and PGI produce. Three major international symposia – covering biotechnology, potatoes and Mediterranean aromatic plants – reflect Macfrut’s reputation for combining innovation with global insight.
Renzo Piraccini, President of Macfrut, highlighted the event’s growing stature: “Thanks to our collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, Macfrut has become a leading international platform. It represents the entire supply chain – a cornerstone of Italy’s agri-food sector, worth €60 billion.”
The Italian Trade Agency has brought 380 international delegates to Macfrut and its sister event Fieravicola – a tenfold increase over four years. As Italy’s fruit and vegetable exports continue to rise, Macfrut stands as a vital meeting point for global trade, innovation, and sustainable growth.
