The Kent County Agricultural Society welcomes James Forknall as the new Chairman after Kevin Attwood finishes his term. The Society elected James at their AGM and gave thanks to Kevin for his six years of service.
James Forknall had previously served as Vice-Chairman for the Kent County Agricultural Society and his family have farmed in Kent since 1953. His experience as chairman for the Maidstone NFU branch and the Weald of Kent Ploughing Match set him in good stead for this role with the Kent County Agricultural Society. James is also joined by Julian Barnes as the Society’s new Vice-Chairman. Julian is the managing director of Biddenden Vineyards and has exhibited at the Kent County Show for 39 years.
After his election, James Forknall said: “I am delighted to have been elected as Chairman of the Kent County Agricultural Society. Kevin has done a tremendous job over the last six years and I certainly have some very big boots to fill. I look forward to the challenge.”
At the AGM, the Society and its members thanked Kevin for his service and The Lord Colgrain DL, Society President, said: “Kevin has given himself to the position of Chairman. His attention to the details of the Society, the time he has devoted to it, the interests that he has developed on the Society’s behalf, and his determination to ensure that the Society should prosper on his watch; these are all attributes that we recognise in him, and are testament to a highly successful period of office, to which the Society and its members are indebted.”
