IPM ESSEN 2026 closed on a highly positive note, underscoring its role as the world’s leading platform for innovation, networking and future-oriented solutions in horticulture. From 27 to 30 January, the fair welcomed nearly 40,000 trade visitors and saw a 3% increase in exhibitors, with 1,476 companies participating. Over 85% of exhibitors plan to return, signalling strong confidence in the event’s relevance during a time of economic pressure and changing market demands.
This year’s edition highlighted the industry’s commitment to sustainable production, resource conservation and new market approaches. Exhibitors and visitors showed strong interest in climate-resilient plants, peat-reduced substrates, smart production technologies and innovative sales concepts. Social media and digital commerce also took centre stage, including the new “Green Vibes” content creator event.
International participation remained high, with 41% of visitors coming from abroad and 68% identifying as decision-makers. More than one in five placed orders directly at the fair, while many more planned follow-up purchases.
A robust supporting programme offered insights into future horticultural trends, including the popular Gardeners’ Forum, the Innovation Center Horticultural Technology, and the newly introduced Woodland Arena—spotlighting climate-adapted urban greening and the societal value of horticulture.
Awards such as the IPM New Plants Showcase, Show Your Colours Award, Green Cities Europe Award and the IPM Trade Fair Cup celebrated outstanding innovations and craftsmanship across the sector.
IPM ESSEN once again demonstrated its strength as a global marketplace and knowledge hub, providing clear direction for the industry’s sustainable and customer-centric future.
IPM ESSEN 2027 will take place from 26 to 29 January 2027 at Messe Essen.
