ICL will showcase a range of sustainable growing media developments at this year’s Four Oaks Trade Show, including advances in peat-reduced and peat-free substrates and a new pot topper aimed at improving weed control and water efficiency.
A key focus on the stand will be Fibagro® Advance — a woodfibre product derived from UK timber industry by-products. ICL has expanded the Fibagro range with two finer grades, Super Fine (0–3mm) and Fine (0–10mm), adding to its existing Standard and Coarse options. These new fractions enable a more refined formulation of mixes tailored to specific crop needs and production systems.
As part of its peat-free transition strategy, the company will present six new Levington Advance blends suitable for propagation through to containerised nursery stock (CNS) production. Each is designed to support performance while reducing reliance on peat, and customisation remains available for growers with specific requirements.
Also debuting in the UK is Fibagro® Advance Pot Topper FT, which recently won the ‘Best New Product Award’ at the GLAS trade fair in Dublin. Designed to suppress weeds and retain moisture, the topper includes a unique binder that keeps the material stable in adverse conditions. It can be applied manually or using existing pot-topping machinery.
For the edible crops sector, ICL will launch Levington® Advance Blocking FT — a new peat-reduced blocking compost for field crop propagation. Formulated with Fibagro and milled peat, it includes fusion technology to maintain block integrity during early growth stages.
Additional topics on the ICL stand will include integrated nutrition packages, wetting agents, and biological controls. A seminar led by ICL Technical Manager Andrew Wilson will explore trial results and innovations in sustainable media, taking place at 11:00am on 2nd September.
