A 1.5 MW wind turbine at Greenvale’s Floods Ferry site near March in Cambridgeshire has begun producing electricity for the grid.
“It’s fantastic to now have the turbine fully commissioned and operating, generating power for Greenvale’s facility. Wind power can and does provide a significant contribution to the economy, both local and national, as well as reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing energy security,” commented Matthew Clayton, Executive Director at Triodos Renewables who co-financed the project, which was built by Wind Prospect and local contractor R G Carter.
Trevor Dear, operations director of Greenvale, commented, “We are delighted to have the turbine fully operational and contributing to our renewable energy supply here at our processing plant. As a business operating in the food supply sector, sustainability in all that we do is integral to our success and future growth.”
