Carrot production cooperative Freshgro has says it expects to continue to have plenty of carrots for the current season, as harvesting progresses into May.
Alan Hunt told the press, “We have plenty of crop left because of our strategy earlier in the season, the crop is good and abundant. We will not be short of carrots this season.”
He added that d from both retail and wholesale markets is good, and he expects to see an uplift in the food service sector ahead of the reopening of hospitality venues under the Government’s Covid roadmap on the 12th of April.
“Our total sales are similar to this time last year and this should increase from April inwards. We expect Easter sales will be 25% higher overall,” he said, adding that planting of the new crop is also progressing well.
