Dutch cleaning specialists Hopmans Verhuur have now used their expertise to develop a chemical free cleaning and disinfection solution for ebb and flood greenhouse floors.
It uses boiling water to remove dirt, algae and moss as well as bacteria and viruses which can cause plant diseases. “We can now disinfect floors of concrete or soil and anti-root cloth without chemicals and in a sustainable way,” Toon Hopmans of the company told reporters. The patented system uses boiling water at pressures up to 150 bar, causing it to instantly turn to steam and effectively clean the floor and other similar surfaces.
The company has also developed a mobile machine for cleaning fabrics which can be used for various agricultural textiles. Depending on the level of contamination and size of the fabric, the machine can clean 1,000 to 1,400 meters per hour.
