Soft-fruit supplier Chambers is searching for new overseas growers to partner with. The firm is looking for new Portuguese suppliers but is also looking for growers in Spain and Morocco.
Speaking at the recent Fruit Attraction trade show in Madrid, Commercial Director James Miller told the Fresh Produce Journal that it is looking to complement its UK production as it expands its supply to supermarket customers across Britain. This growth is partly being driven by ‘premiumisation’ in its raspberry and blackberry ranges. For example, the company recently extended the supply window for its large, high-Brix Sweet Royalla blackberries to 12 months by developing with existing partners in Spain and Morocco and adding new production in Portugal.
