British Onions has announced details of its open day at NIAB, which will include a chance to view and hear about the extensive trials being conduct at NIAB. The day, which is being organised in conjunction with NIAB and AHDB, will take place at the Sophi Taylor Conference Centre at NIAB Park Farm at Histon, Cambridge.
As well as information on the trials it will include agronomy and marketing information for growers, and a chance to view the latest machinery. Presentations are as follows:
- Bruce Napier (Vegetable Specialist, NIAB) will provide a summary of results from the onion variety trials 2018
- Joe Martin (Crop Protection Senior Scientist, AHDB) will provide an update on SCEPTRE+.
- John Clarkson from Warwick Crop Centre will be presenting an update on the Fusarium Project
- British Onions Chairman, Tim Elcombe, will discuss onion marketing prospects for the 2018/2019 season
It will be an informative day with time to visit the extensive onion bulb variety display, with all participating seed and set companies in attendance to discuss their varieties.
The event is on 1st November 2018 and will commence at 12 noon for registration, a light lunch and viewing of the varieties.
This event is for British Onion members, AHDB levy payers and the trade press. Registration prior to the event is essential.
