Blue Radix, the specialist and market leader in autonomous growing solutions for greenhouses, has secured another investment from Navus Ventures and Horticoop. The €5 million investment will be used to accelerate the company’s commercial growth. Blue Radix’s Crop Controller, currently in use at nearly 100 greenhouses globally, has proven its ability to increase yields and energy savings for growers, resulting in strong yearly returns on investment for growers of up to 10 times the invested amount. Blue Radix’s proven added value for its growers creates momentum to scale up its commercial activities significantly.
Horticoop actively invests on behalf of 300 greenhouse companies that have a positive contribution to the horticultural sector. Blue Radix’s autonomous growing solution enables growers to increase yield and energy savings and is therefore fully in line with Horticoop’s ambition. Patrick Groeneveld, CEO of Horticoop: “Blue Radix is a proven leader in the field of applied artificial intelligence in the horticultural sector. As the world’s population grows, so does the demand for healthy and safe food. However, the greenhouse horticulture industry faces challenges due to the rising cost of energy and fertilizers, the need for yield improvement and the increasing shortage of crop expertise. Blue Radix addresses this complexity and these global challenges by empowering growers with algorithm-based solutions that are running like it’s tailor-made. We are therefore delighted with this second investment that characterizes the essence of our cooperative: investing in the future of the horticultural sector.”
