BerryWorld received the ‘Winner of the Winners’ accolade at the 2024 FPC Fresh Awards ceremony held last Friday. Organised by the Fresh Produce Consortium, which is recognised as the ‘voice of the UK fresh produce industry’, the FPC Fresh awards are renowned for uniting individuals across the fresh produce industry to recognise and celebrate the industry’s best and commemorate achievements.
The 2024 Fresh Awards judges, a dedicated team of individuals who are senior directors within produce, providing a comprehensive representation of the industry, commented: “BerryWorld has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to long-term sustainability. They have set its sights firmly on minimising its environmental impact by working towards a more circular economy, while resolutely upholding its responsibility to operate ethically. At the same time, the business continues to deliver on quality and service for customers and strives to promote transparency and progression across the Group”.
The company also won the Sustainability Excellence Ethical Award, for its project supporting their female workforce in South Africa so that they could overcome taboos and get access to sanitary aid during their menstrual cycle. BerryWorld also celebrated partner grower Emery Soft Fruits, receiving the UK Fruit & Veg Grower of the Year accolade, for its all-round determination to drive forward domestic berry availability whilst ensuring a sustainable production and the highest ethical and environmental standards.
