Dutch breeder and propagator Beekenkamp has responded to the cancellation of this year’s Dutch Flower Trials by announcing that it will hold ‘Flower Digi Trials’ instead.
“Given the continuing concern about the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on the entire industry, this is a painful but also a correct decision for the FlowerTrials organization,” commented Cor Bremmer, commercial director at Beekenkamp Ornamentals. “Nevertheless, we regret that this event is not going to take place. The FlowerTrials is a unique opportunity to show our range to the trade, retail and grower. In addition, it is a perfect platform to bring the entire industry together.”
Instead the company has decided that, ‘If people don’t come to the Flower Trials, we make sure that the Flower Trials come to the people.’ Sirekit Mol, Head of Product Trade Management and marketing manager of Beekenkamp Plants, adds, “By adapting the traditional Flower Trials to the Flower Digi Trials, we will continue to live up to the slogan ‘Where plants meet people’, only digitally. We will ensure that all target groups, from grower to retail, from all countries are informed via digital means.”
Although the programme for the Digi Trials is still to be announced, it will include vlogs, blogs, live videos, webinars, photos and other visual material allowing Beekenkamp to showcase its range to growers, the trade, retailers and the press. The show garden is also being planted, so that the range can be followed digitally over the summer.
