According to local reports, Holbeach-based fresh potato and fresh produce supplier AH Worth is restructuring its business in a move which could lead to job losses.
The changes come as the company’s largest potato contract, which expires in June, has not been renewed. AH Worth, which was established in 1895 and which currently employs more that 500 people, said it is currently in a consultation process and the exact number of redundancies will not be known until later in the summer.
A spokesman for A H Worth said: “We are currently undergoing the process of restructuring our business. This decision was not taken lightly, but it is necessary in order to address the challenges facing our business and to ensure our longevity in an increasingly competitive marketplace. During the transition, we will be working tirelessly to minimize the impact on our employees while guaranteeing our commitment to provide high-quality to our customers.
“We are still in the middle of the process and are doing all we can to redeploy our people across the business and to minimize any job losses.”
AH Worth, which acquired Emmett UK in 2021, produces potatoes, sweetcorn, leeks and salad crops.
