The leading five UK supermarkets have increased the number of products containing beetroot as a key ingredient by 20% in the past 12 months, according to Brand View, with beetroot appearing in a wide variety of products from juice and soup to fish and yoghurt.
Such dishes as salmon fillets with beetroot, Sainsbury’s Thai beetroot soup, Innocent’s Beet Juice, James White’s Beet It organic juice and The Collective even has a blackcurrant and beetroot yoghurt. Sales of fresh beetroot have continued to grow from £42.8 million in 2013 to £50.15 this year – an increase of £20.2 million from ten years ago.
