The Newey Group Managing Director Alex Newey recently confirmed the groups acquisition of Eagle Plants Ltd.
Alex commented that he was “delighted” and that “the acquisition has bridged the gap in the Newey Groups young plant offer to wholesale growers”, continuing, “This acquisition will complement and add to the exciting range offered by the group via both Young Plants Limited and New Place Nurseries.”
He confirmed that Jason and Sally Eagles will remain fully operational, with Jason taking on the role of General Manager of Eagle Plants.
Alex added “Jason and Sally are highly respected in the industry. We are confident that their knowledge of the supply chain and excellent relationships with breeders will act as a springboard, helping us to build more market share, benefitting of course from the support of the groups production and despatch facilities”.
The business will relocate the short distance from Banbury to the Young Plants Limited HQ at Whitehill Farm just outside Stratford upon Avon from the middle of June.
Jason and Sally will be fully supported during integration into the group by Kersten Catella, General Manager of Young Plants Limited and Mike Norris, General Manager of New Place Nurseries Limited.
Jason Eagles commented as follows, “Sally and I are delighted to be joining the Newey Group. The ability to utilise their infrastructure and expertise will help us to further develop the Eagle Plants brand.
Our core values are matched by Alex and his colleagues. We are ambitious and this move will enhance all levels of the business including production, distribution and customer service. We are busy working on our 2016 catalogue which will be greatly enhanced by the addition of shrub liners plus some great new herbaceous lines from our existing breeder network and partner producers. This really will deliver exciting new opportunities for our customers”
The acquisition adds to the Newey Groups existing companies: Young Plants Ltd, Evergreen Events, Omni Solutions UK, Roundstone Nurseries, New Forest Plants and New Place Nurseries. Newey confirmed that trading had been strong for the group during the first six months of the year with performance running ahead of expectations.
