On 16th March next year at the Kia Oval in South London there will be a brand new recruitment event – the Fresh Careers Fair – to introduce industry professionals to student and graduates keen to find a career in the produce world.
At the event, UK horticulture and fresh produce companies, food service operators and retailers as well as leading hotels, restaurants and private chef agencies can capitalise on the opportunity to highlight graduate schemes, internships, apprenticeships and job opportunities to those educated and trained to make an impact on their respective sector. At the same time, culinary, horticultural and agricultural students, graduates and job seekers will be able to meet some of the fruit and vegetable industry’s leading employers.
The event will be supported by an exhibition, keynote speakers and networking opportunities. Managing director of the organisers, Produce Business UK, Tommy Leighton, said: “One of the perennial gripes in the UK fresh produce industry has centered around the difficulty of recruiting youngsters into the trade. This applies to all sectors, despite the fact that this industry is one of the most dynamic, innovative and exciting to work in and most fruit and vegetables sectors offer relatively high potential rewards in personal development, enjoyment and financial terms.”
