Agricultural and horticultural training provider ARTIS has announced details of its latest training courses for vegetable growers and others in the fresh produce industry.
The courses include general topics such as HACCP food safety risk assessment, water and nutrient management as well as more specialised courses focusing on particular crops such as brassicas, carrots & parsnips and salads.
The course entitled Profitable growing of vegetable brassicas will be led by Andy Richardson, Senior Consultant with Kirton-based A.B. Agronomy. The course is designed for ‘Individuals who wish to understand more about managing crop production and weed, pest and disease control in vegetable brassicas to achieve maximum commercial crop yields and quality.’ Specific topics include rotations, field work and continuity planning, weeds, pests and disease, as well as other agronomy and crop protection issues.
Two separate courses on leafy salads include field crops (led by Liz Johnson) and protected cropping, led by Dr Richard Binks of FreshTec.
