The UK’s largest agricultural purchasing co-operative increased its turnover from £242 to £247.5 million for the last year and the membership is now more than 3,000 across the UK – not just in East Anglia – and includes 36.9% of the UK’s potato growers. Chief executive Clarke Willis said: “The real growth in volumes during the year is masked by the large reduction in prices of key commodities such as fuel (down 21% in the year, fertiliser, cereal seeds and animal feed. These key product areas showed a volume growth on average of 5.5% during the year. Several major national initiatives have contributed to our success among which is a membership category for the Waitrose Farming Partnership.”
